We human beings are very delicate, sensitive and emotional. If we can’t get what we want, we become helpless and hopeless. This is because we give up hope in Allah. We just start to think that we don’t do anything else. We start to think about the ending of life. All this is because we have no firm faith in Allah. At the moment, we just forget the power of Allah, who is the best creator and the best planner. Our desires, our hopes, our plans, our thoughts are very limited, but Allah has infinite powers. Allah just proved us to be their creators by putting us in difficulties and troubles. He then gives a successful path to one who even can never imagine in his dreams.
…After a difficulty, Allah will soon grant relief” (65:7)
Hopelessness is specifically related to pain, frustration and anxiety. In this modern era, depression and stress cases are alarmingly rising day by day, particularly in larger cities. Such numbers are rising alarmingly in European countries and the United States. According to the World Organization Report, 250 million Americans die every year from depression and stress. A lot of younger students commit suicide every year simply because they don’t see much hope. They just end their lives. It’s all happening just because of going away from the divine love of Allah.
In daily life, we make different plans. We make plans for higher studies, for good jobs, and for good future status. But when we fail, in one step, we go in deep stress. We feel that we cannot do anything. This stress increases when we think more about our failed plans. We just lose hope in Allah. At that time, someone thinks why I’m living in this world? When he finds no way, he just tries to finish his life.
Allah never isolates him from his creations. He loves them, and he just puts them to the test in this mortal life. Allah sends more torment to those who love Allah. Prophets (A.S) face many difficulties and troubles from their nations, but they have never lost hope in Allah. This shows that the more hardships we have, the closer we are to Allah.
Allah says in Quran:
“So, verily, with every difficulty, there is relief: Verily with every difficulty there is relief. Therefore, when you are free (from your immediate task), still labor hard. And to your Lord turn (all) your attention”.(94: 5-7)
We live in an era of materialism. With all the sources, we try to comfort our bodies. When we feel stress and burden, we try to release it in a materialistic way. We listen to songs, watch movies, and spend time in vulgar parities. We think we can get satisfaction through this and get rid of the stresses. But never, ever … Our stress is increasing further. The more we go away from Allah, the more we suffer. Our worries, our stress and our troubles are intertwined with our souls. And the soul is interlinked with the creator. So why we don’t make a strong connection with Allah? Why we lose hope in Allah? Why we think that Allah is only listening to their beloved ones? It’s right that he listens to his beloved ones. But in the same way, he also listens to the sinners. It only brings satisfaction and calmness when we follow the orders of Allah.
“…And whosoever fears Allah…He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine”(Quran 65:2-3)
As humans, it is our intensions to do sins. One day, if we do Astaghfar, and the next day, we commit sins again. We can’t isolate us from sins. That’s why Allah says in the Quran that if you commit sins, you should not lose hope that Allah will never forgive them. Indeed, Allah forgives.
“Even if your sins were to reach the clouds in the sky, I would forgive you” [Sunan al-Tirmdhi]
His merciful door is always open. His blessings always wait when my servant will ask me for forgiveness and do Astaghfar.
Allah says in Quran:
“Say, ‘O My servants who have committed excesses against their own souls, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah will forgive all sins. Indeed, He is the All-forgiving, the All-merciful.” [39:53]
The hope in Allah can change one’s destiny. I want to code an example from the Quran of Yaqoob (A.S). When Hazrat Yousuf (A.S) lost, all can never imagine that Hazrat Yousuf (A.S) could meet them again. But Hazrat Yaqoob (A.S) never lost hope. He had a firm faith in Allah. He believed that his son would meet him again. When his sons went to meet the king for the second time in Egypt and saw what had happened to their other brother Benjamin, Yaqoob (A.S) told them:
“Go, my sons, and look for Joseph and his brother, and do not despair of Allah’s mercy. Indeed no one despairs of Allah’s mercy except the faithless lot.” Quran (12:87)
It is easy to lose hope when things go wrong. But we must have firm faith in Allah; we should not lose hope in Allah. Allah always at our work through our lives, even when we feel pains and sufferings.
Losing hope in the mercy of Allah is like disbelief in Allah.
Do you think that you will enter paradise without such trials as came to those who passed away before you? They experienced suffering and adversity and were so shaken in spirit that even the Prophet and the faithful who were with him cried, “When will Allah’s help come?” Ah, verily the help of Allah is near. (Quran 2: 214)
We need to strive hard to accept the sufferings of life and hope in Allah. Without pain, there is no advancement. For developments and progress, life troubles and worries are necessary to face them. So, when they come along, embrace them, tolerate them, and never lose hope and always put full trust and faith in Allah.
